PHOENIX (AZFamily) — We’re lucky in Arizona to have over 1,000 miles of beautiful trails, like the 315-mile-long Maricopa Trail Loop.
But if that’s not long enough, someday hikers may have the opportunity to travel over 1,500 miles across two different states in what could be a world-class interstate trail.
The Sun Corridor Trail is in the works. Once completed, it would stretch from the Las Vegas area, into Arizona, through Flagstaff and Phoenix and end past Tucson at the Mexican border.
“It holds a lot of opportunities for people that would use it, but also we’re getting a lot of feedback from communities throughout the state that want to be a part of it,” said RJ Carton, former director of Maricopa County Parks and Recreation. “They see it as an economic engine for them as well.”
