Monday marks one year since the Sauratown Mountain caught on fire, burning for days before being contained. The Sauratown Mountain fire serves as a teaching moment for many of the younger firefighters in King and a testament to the bonds that hold this community together. “Everybody came together, and we got everything done that needed to be done,” said Caleb Nelson, a firefighter at the Sauratown Volunteer Fire Department.Over 800 acres burned on Sauratown Mountain. Itβs etched into the memories of many people in the community.
