Inter Miami will make their tournament debut at 2025 FIFA Club World Cup as part of an expanded competition in the USA.
The MLS side’s qualification for the Club World Cup was confirmed in October as the final participant, following a FIFA update on the spot reserved for the host nation.
One place was held back for a team from the USA, which FIFA opted to award to Inter Miami for winning the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield, the trophy given to the team with the best regular-season record.
Lionel Messi will lead Inter Miami into the competition he won three times at Barcelona in 2009, 2011 and 2015.
