DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – The City of Dubuque is hiring consultant firm Kimley-Horn to develop a comprehensive master plan to shape the future of the city’s park system.
“This is the most in-depth study that’s ever really been done,” says Dubuque Leisure Services Director Marie Ware. The plan marks Dubuque’s first city-wide analysis of its park system since 1982.
Ware says the master plan will examine the quality of Dubuque’s parks, how to protect its natural resources and get feedback from the community on potential gaps in service.
“If what we have meets the standards of today, and then when we compare it with the feedback we receive, should we be doing some things differently as we move forward into the future,” explains Ware. “The real goal of that is where do we want to go?
