DESOTO CO., Miss. (WMC) – DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton is asking residents to participate in a public opinion survey meant to gauge the community’s concerns over local crime.
The online, multiple-choice questionnaire asks the public to rank their feelings on safety and security, law enforcement competency, the DA’s overall performance, and concerns regarding criminal activity.
The survey will remain open until Sunday, January 5.
On Monday, DA Barton announced legislative priorities he intends to present during the 2025 legislative session in Jackson, Mississippi.
A social media ban for kids, new police training academy, and certified “bounty hunters” for finding undocumented immigrants are among the many proposals that Barton plans to bring before state lawmakers next week.
