KATY — The phrase, ‘when it rains, it pours’ was heavily in favor of the College Station volleyball team in its Class 5A Division I area game Thursday.
A pair of long scoring runs helped the Lady Cougars win the first two sets, and a final burst in the third guided them to a 25-10, 25-13, 25-21 sweep over Galveston Ball at Mayde Creek High School gym.
After getting ahead 6-3 in the first set, the Lady Cougars outscored the Lady Toros 19-7 to cap the set. An encore in the second set was a 12-3 run to expand their lead from 8-6 to 20-9.
