A POPULAR restaurant has announced its shock closure after 37 years – and locals are heartbroken.

Gino’s restaurant in Waterford is set to close before Christmas.

The Dunne family have expressed their gratitude to everyone who has been part of the journey.

Taking to Facebook, the family-run business shared the news to all their customers in a statement.

They said: “The time has now come to say goodbye!

“There are so many thank yous we must make as over 37 years you make many a friend!

“An impossible task to thank everyone but we shall try.”

The family thanked their loyal customers, whose support was the foundation of the restaurant’s success and allowed them to watch families grow over the years.

They also extend their deepest thanks to their staff, who played a vital role in Gino’s success and whose commitment made them feel like a true family.
